In 2006,Groam House Museum, where the George Bain collection is housed, asked Burgess and Fiona if they could design some Celtic Art workshops to run in conjunction with a new travelling exhibition of previously unseen work by Celtic Art Master George Bain.

The children’s workshops are based around how manuscripts were made from vellum before paper was invented and the adult workshops feature, learning a key pattern using one of George Bains Methods and transferring the design on to book quality vellum to make a bookmark.

Update October 2007

We are nearly at the end of the year of travelling and we have had over 500 children and adults through the workshops.  Alvie, Wick, Thuso, Drumnadrochit, Kingussie, Helmsdale, Inverness, Avoch, Rosemarkie, Ardross and Tore.

We would like to thanks all the schools that travelled to the galleries to take part and for all the adults that gave up their time to give it a go. Click on the 2007 link below to get a small flavour of the work you have created.

Well done all of you !!.
